car alarm faulty

I went out in my 2002 Rover 25 last night and when i parked up I found that I couldn't lock the car up as it kept setting the alarm off. I tried checking the windows and that all the doors were closed properly but they all seemed ok. I took the chance and left it unlocked while I went to my works xmas meal (luckily it was still there at 3 in the morning). I tried it again when i got home and the alarm still went off. I have also tried it this morning after leaving it unlocked all night (cant keep pushing my luck like this).
The only thing that i have done to the car myself was when my battery went flat in the cold weather so as well as recharging it I had a new + terminal/engine fuse box connector put on by a mechanic friend as the old 1 wouldn't tighten. But that was 3 days ago and I have used the car since.
Anyone got any ideas? typical that this should happen when everything is shut for christmas the selfish garage people LOL.

Don't see too many Rovers but with any alarm problem like that I would start with the door & hood switches. If one isn't setting all the way & the module thinks the door or hood is ajar that could set it off...
Without a scan tool to access the body module makes it tougher, but check you dash to see if the door ajar light is on with everything closed, that could lead you to the problem area. Also you could also try manually pushing the door buttons in and holding them while you arm the alarm to see if you can find the bad one....

Just went by the shop to get more beer & seen a crazy customer there with a Rover.... can't believe he thought we'd be there on Xmas....
