You are probably hearing the buzz of the fuel pump not a noise from an injector. What is the problem with this car? One injector could flood out the engine and not start - you might smell that if so. Is there any spark?

Re: can 1 bad injector Sign In

tom, i have a buick century 3.3l 1993. after replacing the harmonic balancer because it was clanking the car ran for two days than stalled and woulnd not start. figured it was the crank sensor maby damage from new balancer. after close inspection the sensor had no damage but replaced with new. car still would not start. put starting fluid in intake and engine runs.
next step taken was replacing ecu or ecm , the computer with the original blue chip from my computer, got it from a salvage yard. still would not start on its own but would with starting fluid.
tested the pink wires for power and its there, but do not have noid light to test for signal. did this with all connectors removed from all injectors.
I than removed the tps and check it for resistance throught the range of motion. resistanced changed as lever was moved. i replaced the tps and set it back to .5 volts at closed throttle and 4.3 volts at wide open throttle.
i than poceeded to test fuel pressure at the fuel rail and have 44 psi. with the injectors connected to the rail but not in their ports i turned the key on and no fuel sprayed out. i put every thing back together.
with the key on i hear the fuel pump running but after cranking the starter i hear another sound that sound like an injector spraying.
removed a couple of the spark plugs and they are dry.
is it possible to test for signal another way than with a noid light? am i missing something? not sure what i have missed or what the problem may be. would a bad injector keep the car from running even after started with starting fluid. thanks for your time and help with this problem.
