burning rubber smell while driving and when parked Sign In

2002
FORD
TAURUS
24V / 3.0L DOHC
148,300

we have had this burning rubber smell since august. and this past weekend saw white smoke coming from under the hood

did not check right away since i was at a interview.
when i got home i checked for leaks found nothing. i checked again 4 hours later got my camera and found oil all underneath the car (no oil was present on the pavement) . but i have seen this before with the 1999 taurus wagon i used to own. same issue like before, i was told it was no big deal ... and going to work that evening in 2006 the engine blew right on the interstate.

so this time around im not wasting money just for someone to pop the hood an stair at it and say its fine when i know better!

at start up the engine sound different, 6 minutes in burning rubber smell fills inside car , stronger when idle
check engine light is unrelated to problem
car has 2qts less oil, and has been sitting parked in driveway for 4 days now

there is no squeaking noise or any sounds during driving
the car seems to struggle when accelerating ( hit the gas and she takes off, hit the gas now its slower)

AC / heat works normally
all of the electrical and fuses is new and was replaced by local ford shop under the old dealer warranty .. ( dealership where we bought the car has went out of business)

so i just want to know what might the problem be
i do have a few pictures. its not much - i took a few.

..............Crazy...............Frown

If you are inexperienced enough to believe that all your oil leaking out is "no big deal" , then you are not going to be able to identify the leaking component yourself. Find a shop that actually inspects it and be prepared to make immediate repairs when the problem is found.
