broken hood latch cable

The cable on my 1995 chevy s10 blazer is broken. I have tried pulling the exposed cable attached to the latch but am having no luck. Are there any tricks or procedures to get the hood open?

These things are made to be difficult. Sometimes you can trip it with a real long screwdriver from under the vehicle. If you succeed don't shut the hood all the way until you get that cable fixed. If all fails an auto body shop may be able to help. Eventually you have to check fluid levels or go for service. Good luck, T
