The valve i have resculpted with a file to fit a diferent socket or wrench. but upon trying to force back the piston with a padded clamp i realized that the piston easily worked its way back far enough to install the new pads on both sides by only bleeding a tiny amount of brake fluid from the other less damaged bleeder. both sides are finished and reassembled and the caliper pinches but have i done something wrong or dangerous . thanks tony. dave284 Enthusiast / Moderator May 11, 2008, 7:14 AM Post #2 of 3 (1112 views) Re: brake pad replacement Sign In Tony, there can't be any leaks at all, everytime you hit the brakes you would push fluid out and let air in....afterwhile no brakes. Tom Greenleaf Ultimate Carjunky / Moderator May 11, 2008, 8:59 AM Post #3 of 3 (1109 views) Re: brake pad replacement Sign In To add: If the "hex" of the bleeder screw is messed up but it turns then it can easily come out and be replaced - match it up by threads and seat at a parts store. Use a smear of brake silicone grease on threads of bleeders and they about never give you a hard time again. This is also a warning that the caliper itself might not be so good overall!
