brake lights stay on when vehicle is running..

2011 gmc 5.3 v8 flexfuel, the plastic shroud that houses the fog lights was pulled off. The brake lights stay on all the time now when the vehicle is running. Have checked the brake pedal switch and pulled the fuse to the fog lights. Any advice as to what might be causing this problem. Thanks.

I don't expect one to have anything to do with the other. Unplug the brake light switch and see if the brake lights go out.
