Mitsubishi Galant 2003 Today the brake lights quit (ok so we noticed it today) but all other lights are working including the brake light in the back window. So what could be causing the problem? The fuses appear to be good.

If the 3rd "high mount" brake light is working properly, that would mean that your problem is in the turn signal switch. The 2 lower lights "only" pass through that switch so the turn signal can cancel the brake lights when necessary. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

would the turn signals still work then? My husband seems to think it has to be something with the wiring in the trunk area.
