blown fuses for cig lighter/dash lights '97 camry Sign In

I recently replaced the cigarette lighter in my camry, a wire got melted while using a portable tire pump, is there some underlying problem that i need to look for? the wire was on the lighter itself, so i replaced the entire unit, it work for a day or two, then the fuse blew.

You are probably going to have to trace the whole circuit between the fuse & lighter. You may have melted more wire than what you replaced & it's shorting out......

Just a comment:

I'm surprised if the pump over stressed it that it didn't just blow a fuse! Did it have a fuse too strong to begin with?
