If capable, take belt off and spin pulleys for starters. No noise or wobble is acceptible,

"The belt" as was yelled out to you is a grooved neoprene or ethylene propylene diene M-class rubber belt that is driven by the crankshaft of the engine to drive accessories attached to the engine. Those accessories may include a water pump, an alternator, a power steering pump, and an air conditioning compressor.

You should swing into your mechanic and have them check that out.

In the picture you can see an example of an accessory drive belt and the accessories it drives. The large pulley at the bottom is attached to the engine's crankshaft. When the engine is running, the large pulley rotates and causes the belt to rotate the other pulleys that are attached to the accessories. There are also other pulleys called idlers which are not attached to accessories and are used to change the angle of the belt to go around another pulley. The belt has to be tight or else it will slip, so there is a device called a belt tensioner that keeps the belt tight. The tensioner is nothing more than a spring loaded arm with a pulley on the end.

Not too sure about that. If it that bad that someone is yelling at you while your driving down the road that something is wrong with your vehicle, maybe you shouldn't drive it this weekend until you can get it into the shop.
