A wheel bearing will make a constant groan/drowning type noise, which may change in volume with speed or while making slalom type maneuvers or lane changes. Dan. CV-joints: first thing to go usually is the rubber boot. it tears and lets the grease ooze out and sling all over the place. other times they make noise. most times they make a POPPING noise when makinge parking lot turns. Some CV joints make a rythmic clicking noise. wheel bearings, make a distinct deep rolling rumbling noise. more serious wear will make the noise rolling straight ahead.
