I have a 1969 Ford F-100 its got a 390 an my battery all of the sudden quit holding charge, so i replaced my alternator, that didn't work i then replaced my voltage regulator, still didn't work then i replaced the battery an it worked fine for a day or 2 an now its doing it again except more frequently i cant even drive anywhere because it dies while i'm driving

With everything electrical off -- disconnect the neg at the battery and put a test light between cable and battery. Light should be out or something is draining the battery.

Also check voltage of battery charged up separately from the truck. It should read like 12.2 to close to 13V and if not that battery may be bad.

The alternator should overcome most shorts and blow a fuse before it can drain while running enough to shut you down.

Start it up and read the voltage with it running. Now you should see 14 to 14.5V.

If it's charging while running the quitting on you while driving is probably a fault with the ignition.

Check for trouble with items that may not work. Do brake lights work, horn, etc? Also check any thing that has been added like stereo or other things non factory.

Hit back with what you find going on. These vehicles shouldn't be that tough to find the problem,

i took it into Autozone yesterday an got my alternator tested an it was bad so i got another new one but its still doin that, i had a stereo system but it got stolen awhile ago, it started doing this out at a buddy's house my friend got his car high centered on a rock an i rammed him off an a little while after that my truck wouldn't hold charge, my horn does not work it quit working along time ago though
