My battery light is on and it shows that the car is over heating but i just bought and replaced the battery a week ago? can u help

If your car is overheating and you have a new battery there may be, and probably is, a common link. Be sure the belt driving the water pump is not slack. You may have only one belt operating several components, press the longest section and if it depresses 1/2 inch or more it needs tightened. Be sure the radiator is full of appropriate mixture of water and anti-freeze, and rid of all air. You might go to your neighborhood auto parts and ask for a battery and alternator test; Auto Zone can do it in the car, others not.
