auto transmission flush Sign In

car: automatic 99 toyota avalon
its my understanding that one should do transmission flush every 30k or so.

there are two mechanics and one oil change place that we go to regularly.
one mechanic quoted $150 and another one quoted $200 for it. oil change place quoted $40!

are there different kind of transmission flush that I am getting different quotes for them?

what am I missing?

It depends what their labor rate is and what kind of fluid they are using. There are so many vehicles now that you cannot use regular Dexron in and they all have different requirements, many shops use a universal synthetic which is acceptable for all the special needs and an upgrade for cars that use regular Dexron. Some have dofferent opinions on what the labor time should be also. Forget the $40 idiot. That won't even cover the fluid so you can bet he isn't changing it all.

$40 would be a drain and fill with universal fluid... Still seems to cheap I wouldn't do it. Well worth the $200 if you only do it every 30k, right??
