I haven't had time to have it looked at and haven't been driving it much, but yesterday I was driving it and I stared hearing a squealing sound coming from the engine. When I got home and opened the hood there was some smoke coming from the timing belt area and what I believe is a small amount of oil splattered around where the belt goes. Do you think a line was cut? I checked all of the wheels by hand and they seemed to be on fine. The local shop wants $75 to diagnose it! I believe now that the liquid that was splattered was coolant, not oil as I had originally thought. I believe I have a leek in the coolant line because I just put a bunch in and it started flowing out of the bottom. Does anyone think this could be the cause of the altornator noise? If it got wet from the coolant leaking? I know that some of it got the belt wet. Are you sure the noise was coming from the alternator ? Possibly was the water pump bearing making noise. also could be that the alternator is making noise as well..im not there.. If coolant is leaking out the bottom,could be coming from the water pump weep hole.. Get the system pressure tested to verify leak.
