So I cleaned my K&N air filter in my Subaru Forester, oiled it up (maybe I oiled it too much?) and put it back in. The car starts but shuts off after 4 seconds. Battery and engine light come on Correct re-installation of air filter, or too much oil blocking the intake? Should I just buy a new one and put it on instead?

K&N filters are nothing but problems. There is no benefit to having one and they ruin more Mass Air Flow sensors than anything else. You have likely contaminated your sensor and you will have to get some special cleaner to get the oil off without further damaging it. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.
