accelerator problem

I want to know how to fix the problem with my accelerator I have a 1986 oldmobile cutless supreme V6. The problem is when I hit the gas the car takes off very slow, I even put the gas to the floor and the car still isnt going anywhere, it can barely make it up to 30mph. Can anybody help, what can be the problem?
