abs braking system Sign In

I have just found out that my abs system needs replacing. I have a 1997 Crysler Sebring conv. My husband took it to a crysler and was told it would run up to $2000. They couldn't tell if it was the whole system or just one of the two systems.
my question is any idea if this 2000. is right if it is the whole system or should we try another dealer?
We are seniors and this amount of money means a lot to us. Any thought would help.
Thanks to all and have a blessed week.

Opinion and 100% your call: Do the brakes behave properly as they are like a car that doesn't have ABS at all? Most will default to regular braking action and feel. ARE YOU COMFORTABLE WITH THEM JUST WORKING LIKE REGULAR BRAKES?

It's not required by my state to have operational ABS for inspection. Brakes have to work properly though otherwise. You need to be an informed consumer and make a decision based on your desires and the local laws if this is fine to just leave it the way it is. As said, find out and your call,

Sorry I forgot to mention that the brake fluid is leaking from the abs unit. sorry about that. I would still like to know if $2000. is an over priced quote or is it a fair price.
again thanks

A leak is definately a safety issue. I know this stuff can get expensive and don't know just what is needed to fix that but surely would get a second opinion on that and how to fix it. I just can't know from here what and how it's leaking.

Could this be a rusted line in the area? Those are difficult to make up but not that expensive. Use all caution even driving this car with a leak in braking system I suggest you NOT drive it till fixed which is troublesome for another quote but I'd still get one,
