It won't start. Checked battery..good. Tested alternator and starter at Auto Zone and they both passed. Replaced pos and neg battery cables. Amp meter on dash continues to read 9-10 amps not the usual 12- 14. Not enough juice to kick over the starter, but lights are bright , radio works, interior lights work well. any suggestions? way2old Veteran / Moderator Aug 21, 2009, 12:05 AM Post #2 of 4 (1983 views) Re: won't start , low amp meter Sign In You are reading voltage on the gauge, not amperage. How are you testing the battery? Remember that the starter takes a lot more current than the lights and other accessories. Have the battery load tested. Sounds to me like the battery is getting weak. If battery is indeed good, check for a blown a fusible link.
