Wiper Transmission Linkage Sign In

My 95 Nissan Sentra 1.6 wiper link from the motor to the middle link fell off. I am able to reconnect but it isn't very secure. It is a plastic on plastic connection so I am thinking that a new one would snap on more securely. Question 1 - how do I tell if I need to replace the whole assembly? And 2 - how do I get the wiper arms off? I took the nut off but they won't budge. Do I need a puller?

Pull the wiper arm upwards into the rest position. That should relieve the pressure so that you can pull the arm off of the shaft. In many cases, those plastic 'keepers' are replaceable and are available at most parts stores. However, sometimes, you must replace the part of the linkage where the 'keeper' is.

Re: Wiper Transmission Linkage Sign In

Thanks Loren. I tried the wiper arm in all positions but still no luck. Hard to apply force because there is the plastic trim and a seal under the arm. Since I am sure that it will pull off I will try a bit more force.

Once off I will have access to the keeper.
