Ho we got our van a couple of week ago tranny went straight away , got that fixed but now realised passenger side windshield wiper isnt working ... where abouts do I tighten the nut ? Do i have to remove the dash to do so or is there another way? Thanks in advance Darren Loren Champlain Sr Veteran / Moderator Feb 26, 2009, 3:59 PM Post #2 of 6 (2569 views) Re: Windshield Wiper stem Sign In Darren; At the base of the wiper arm where it meets the cowl, there is a plastic cover that will pull open to expose a nut that attaches the arm to the wiper transmission pivot. Try tightening that nut. It is possible that the teeth on the pivot have been damaged or the teeth on the arm, but is definitely worth a try tightening, first. If the pivot requires replacement, it's not as bad as you'd think. It just requires removing both wiper arms and the metal cowling. I took the arm off the spines on the spindel are great but the ones on the arm are shot so going to have to get a new one tomorrow ... Pretty common problem, especially in snow country. Very hard on the wipers.
