Windsheld wipers

The windsheld wipers on my 2005 Chevy Impala will not go to park when the switch is turned off they go to the middle of the windsheld all other functions are ok

This is a common problem that most times only requires some lubrication and an adjustment.
You’ll have to remove some plastic covers to get to the wiper module and then another cover at the wiper motor.
This will expose the wiper crank assembly, in the center of the crank assembly; kind of sandwiched in the middle, you’ll find a little spring-loaded tab. This tab should move freely in & out against spring pressure. If not and the spring isn’t broken, it should free up with a little penetrating oil.
If this tab is moving freely the problem might be the bracket that the tab is suppose to catch on has bent out of position, if so bend it back being careful not to break it off.
What happens when you turn the wipers on the crank assembly begins to turn in a clockwise direction; this tab will strike the bracket and fold out of the way and then pop back out as it passes the bracket. When you turn the wipers off the motor chances direction to counter clockwise. The tab now catches onto the bracket changing the orientation of the crank arm pulling the wiper arms to the bottom of the windshield.
Here's a diagram that may help make more sense of what I tried to explain.
