What size socket do i need for my front axle nut? Sign In

I have a 98 Pymouth Breeze ,my axle bearings are going so i'm eventually going to have to swap em out.

I don't know what size socket i'm going to have to buy from autozone.

As far as tools i have a great neck oversized torque wrench that will work. I watched a guy do it last time on my car, it looked hard but i think i can handle it if i can't use the compressor. The compressor is a150psi pancake compressor.

Think it can handle it?

Any knowledgeable suggestions?

As far as the socket goes, you could just use the loan-a-tool program. I know advance and autozone have one. You can just request the axel nut socket set and they'll give you the complete set with various size sockets and all you do is just front the money when you pick them up, then once your done with them just bring the tools back and they'll return your deposit.

It works great for things like this where you probably woln't be using the socket more than once!

I think the set was around $32 when I got it from Advance

It just came with a 30, 32, 34, and 36mm sockets plus the case. Thats all I needed for my application, I'm sure if you go down there they would be able to tell you if there are other kits to cover othe size sockets or standard sockets.

If you want to own I'd just buy them one by one as needed. Impact grade, deep quality ones. If you do tons of work a set would be nice but as you get up into higher sizes you don't need both metric and "standard" as many are near the same, and not many will be SAE/English sized anymore anyway,
