I drive a 2003 Toyota Highlander, V6 in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. I was driving at around 20mph when I heard a clunk. I looked in my rearview and there was a part in the road, so I turned around and picked it up. It was warm to the touch, so I'm guessing it came from near the engine, or possibly near a brake. The top round part is rubber. After searching for quite a while, I can't find where this thing came from! I have no idea what it is, but am nervous to drive without knowing. Any educated guesses? I'm not a mechanic at all, so I don't really know where to start, except that I think it is a stop of some sort. I've uploaded pics here: https://picasaweb.google.com/...&feat=directlink Just copy and paste the link in your browser. Thanks in advance for any help!

That is a vibration damper. It would have been mounted to the exhaust pipe or the back of the transmission. You can see the bracket rusted away so the other half of the bracket should still be on the car.
