I have a 2000 Pontiac Grand Prix which is a wonderful car, but yesterday it did something very strange; I wonder if anyone can help. When I put the car in park, the panel says it is in reverse and I cannot start my car. It seems to be one away from what it should be, i.e. park being reverse, drive is #3 (drive). This just happened out of the blue and I cannot figure out why. Any suggestions?

This one is a doozy! I dont knwo if this one is electrical or not though..It sounds more mechanical / transmission, but i will give it a shot. My brother had the same thing happen to him. The way we fixed it is by playing hard ball. Try pulling the shift button and ramming it down to no.1 then up to park. See if the selector moves? Once you get it started, take it to a mechanic
