Want to change my transmission fluid & filter due to past shudder problems, what fluid would be best without over kill? Thinking about Mercron V and an additive. Big John

Fair warning here............ Sometimes changing the fluid in a transmission that is already exhibiting problems can lead to immediate total failure. You may want an expert to look at this first. Here are the factory specs for the fluid. Fluid Type Note: Ensure the correct automatic transmission fluid is used. Check the container verify the fluid is MERCON(r) approved. Transmission fluid requirements are indicated on the transmission dipstick handle. MERCON(r) ATF Note: Use of fluid marked MERCON(r) V may cause internal damage. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.
