I have a 96 chevy tahoe, 4x4 with a 350. I went out yesterday, turned the key, it tried to turn over and made what I can best describe as the sound of something shorting out. Kinda like a kids laser gun type of repetetive surge sound. I tried again and it did absolutely nothing. I went out about 6 hours later, tried again. It tried to turn over, but didnt crank. Tried again immediately and again nothing. This same scenario happened a third time that day. I pulled off the starter and took it to the store to be checked. it checked out fine so I went back to the house and put it back on. The truck cranked up fine. It has cranked about 6 times since putting the starter back on. BUT... when i press the gas the truck sputters and the abs, brake, and check engine lights come on. Do you think these two things are related? This is out of my realm. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like you just have a dead battery. Charge and test it. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.
