Water leak Sign In

Good Day,

I have a 2008 Chevy Malibu 3.6L with 65000 miles and have a water leak.
I have noticed when it rains I get water dripping from the left front corner of the dash pad. I removed the side panel off the dash and found a lot of water leaking out from the foam pad of the dash and if I push on the pad at the left corner its like a sponge and just wrings out more water. The car also has a sun roof, so now im not sure where the water it coming in from. The windshield, sun roof, or body weld? I have checked other forums and people there say a plugged sunroof drain tube was the problem. Where does the sunroof tube run to? Im assuming down the drivers side piller but not for sure and if it does how do I clean it out? Im afraid with the amount of water leaking in,that an electrical short could happen and I really dont want that to happen.
Thanks Fuzzy1

Re: Water leak Sign In

Arggh. Try some quality painter's tape totally sealing sun roof first and if leak stops you've narrowed it down some. Go on other suspect items one by one and hope you can narrow it down to one.

Has windshield been replaced?

Drain for sunroof unknown but you should be able to see something and many are not factory so couldn't expound if I had details on how it's done.

If all else fails, see who in your area is suggested to find it and fix it. Have seen this in assorted brands of new cars - stinks!

Re: Water leak Sign In

I have taken your last statement and sent the car to Safelite. They can do a water test to find the leak.
Thanks.
