hello. i have a 1.4i glx vauxhall corsa. it is an ecotec engine. recently the alternator went and i put on anther one from the scrappy and be car is charging fine now. however now i suddenly have a different problem when idling the car will stall/jolt [mad] i work in a garage and have been told it may be the idle sensor or maf but i researched on the internet and found that my car has a smaller different sensor on it then the ones shown on the internet it sits on the air pipe just after the air filter help me plzzzzzzzzzz[laugh] i also had to take the engine manifold off the car to get to the alternator but put it bak together fine.

dafdealer; The small sensor that goes into the air intake hose is probably the IAT (intake air temp) sensor and doubt if that it is the culprit. Be certain that the air intake tube from the air cleaner to the intake plenum is secure. Any leaks would disrupt the MAF sensor and cause idling and running problems. My biggest concern is that you had to remove the intake manifold to replace the alternator. Again, if the intake manifold gasket was damaged during installation, you may have created a vacuum leak. Also, these things may have a bunch of vacuum lines that could have been damaged, left loose, or reinstalled incorrectly. Just to be sure, recheck all of your connections, electrical and vacuum. If everything checks out, you'll need to start looking for a vacuum leak at the intake to cylinder head mating.
