At the oil change place they showed us the carb build up in (I think it's called) the manifold (it's connected by a big hose to the air filter). Well anyways I told them I'd get my Dad to clean it. My dad told me how to clean it myself. However I saw on the can that I was supposed to have the engine off but my Dad said to keep the engine off-I listened to the can. After my boyfriend used the spray cleaner the engine idles high in park (about 5000 or more), and when in drive it goes high but if I have my foot on the pedal all the way it will go 1500-2000. I have a hyundai elantra 2000. Now I have no idea what to do, and my Dad isn't helping me at all.

oops I meant my Dad said to keep the engine on. The can said to have it off-which is what I did.

It sounds like the Idle air control valve is stuck open partial way,or the part itself could be defective, have it removed and inspected.

I'm not sure what it looks like. Is it this? javascript:popImage('http://www.partsamerica.com/product_images/img/nie/21782-1.jpg', 'Niehoff+Ignition 21782'); Thank you!
