Hello! I'm a 26 year old lass off to view a car tomorrow and I thought I'd get the opinion of some car savvy people to help me know what to look out for. The car is the following... Ford Fiesta Ghia - 1.2lt 1998 (R reg) MOT - 01/10 Tax 07/09 55k mileage And they are asking only £450 for it. My research tells me this model with such a low mileage usually goes for 700-900 quid so I'm quite excited to find it. It's apparently mechanically very sound, no advisory issued last MOT (is there a way to double check this?). It's owned by a girl who's family it has belonged to for several years and it has apparently only been used for short trips. My questions is - what's the catch? She says she needs a quick sale, so I imagine she either knows nout about cars and needs money or there is something wrong with the car. But then if this is hideable, why sell it for only £450? I know to look for rust under the wheel arches, water in the oil, weird sounds from the engine, but what else should I be looking for? It's only my second car so I thought it'd be grand to have some help seeing as I don't have any mates who know anything about cars! Thanks x

damsilindistress; Love your name! Does the area that you live require emission testing? If so, make sure the car will pass the emission test. I always recommend that you have a knowledgeable mechanic pre-check it, also. I don't mean to sound negative, but the old cliche': If it sounds too good to be true, it usually is. Be very careful, my dear. Loren SW Washington
