Timing on 1995 Volvo 850 GLT Sign In

Greetings all. 1995 Volvo 850 GLT 2.3L I5 100k miles with blown headgasket. Ive already removed everything down to the timing belt and upper valve cover. Before removing the timing belt, it was suggested to me that I mark off where the cam and crankshaft sprockets meet the engine body in order to facilitate matching the timing belt properly. What I don't understand is that if I have to remove both camshafts anyway in order to access the "lower valve cover" (this model has the head gasket underneath a lower valve cover which can only be accessed if the camshafts are removed). How in the world am I suppossed to reset the timing when I put everything back? I have a Chiltons manual, the internet and alot of patience, if anyone can provide guidance or a link to guidance it would be much appreciated. Im just a little nervous to remove the belt if there is some way to mark it off to aid the reinstallation. Thanks in advance for any help!!
