Timing belt slip during adjustment

Hi everyone. I just recently did a timing belt replacement on my car, this was my first time. Here is my problem/question. When I was tightening the crank-pulley bolt, (my engine turns CCW, while the bolt is CW), the timing belt slipped several notches over the cam sprocket, that is - the crank rotated while the cam stayed in place. Since I was rotating the engine backward from its operating rotation, I take it that my camshaft is now 2 notches AHEAD of the crank. Should this pose any significant problem. Thanks in advance. Year of vehicle - 1996 Make of vehicle Honda Model of vehicle - Accord Engine size - 2.2 L F22B2 (non-VTEC) Mileage/Kilometers - over 200k - broken odometer

Of course it will. I'll be surprised if it even ran and you could easily bend all the valves because of it. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.

I know there is such a thing as cam advancement, but not sure how much of a degree change can be tolerated. I figure mine is roughly 18-20 degrees forward. In case that you suggest I should fix it, what is the best method to determine the proper position between crankshaft/camshaft given I can trust the timing marks on the crank for TDC.

You line up the timing marks perfectly. There is no other method. There is no room for error.
