Synthetic OIl Sign In

I am contemplating switching to synthetic oil in my1988 Olds 88 with 143,000 miles. Anything more than simply draining old oil and adding new synthetic oil (with new filter) required?

no. dran old oil. remove old filter. replace drain plug. install new filter. refill crankcase with synthetic.

im not sure if this is an urban legend or not but i was always under the belief that once you made the switch to synthetic, you cant go back to dino oil. not sure why you would but thats what i heard.

Re: Synthetic OIl Sign In

Either one is compatible and you can go back and forth if you feel like it or even mix them. The container says what API rating and viscosity it is.

There are few vehicles that specify synthetic and still a rumor that one specifies against it - unknown why and I've never seen it in print on a car,
