Sunblock on skin damaging plastic armrest

2007 Hyundai Accent SE, 3 months old, 1400 miles. I wear sunblock (it's Florida) when driving to reduce damage to my skin. Where I rest my arm on the driver door armrest area (part of the door where all the electric buttons are) the plastic is bubbling up, scaling and splitting. For only 3 months old, I'm worried. The dealer is replacing the door panel under warranty, but is there something about not wearing lotions and sunblock or never touching the plastic in the door? I am assuming there is some chemical reaction. Am I doomed to putting some cloth down or eventually see more damage so bad I have to duct tape the door? This seems like a bad choice of material for an armrest. The dealer calls it "cosmetic" problem. So what do I do a year or two from now? Any help as to why this is happening is appreciated.

Discoloration may be unavoidable but the bubbling of plastic or vinyl in that short a time is inexcusable.
If you must protect it do it with painter's tape NOT duct tape. High quality painter's tape will remove without leaving a gummy mess. This could be a rock and a hard place.
Hey, we need sunscreen here too. Some surprise nasty burns come in Winter mostly on your face as you are usually bundled up elsewhere,
