Sugar in gas tank

I have learned that sugar in a gas tank does not get all gooey, but, in fact, stays in it's crystal state and will not go through the filter(s).
HOWEVER, it does clump up in the filler neck like concrete and prevents re-filling the gas tank.
Is it possble to break up this hard mess with anything besides hot water?
Right now we plan on removing the tank and flushing it out with water, but if we could break up the sugar clogging the filler neck, we would just live with the sugar sloshing around in the bottom of the tank.
Any suggestions?

might be worth using a shop vac to suck the sugar as you try and break it up from the filler tunnel.... maybe use a paper towel to clog up the line so that no extra sugar goes down the pipe.

You haven’t mentioned what type of vehicle this is but most fuel filler necks are removable?

you can still be an A______, but make sure you have a locking gas cap first!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL

Actually, it WILL dissolve eventually, and it takes very little in the gas to ruin an engine, or at least stop up injectors. I dont know who told you it wont dissolve, but try it in a glass, and you will see that it is faster than in water. Plus the fuel pump is "churning" the gas over and again. Try to not start it any longer, until you have completely cleaned the tank, replaced the filter, and cross your fingers!
