Steering Problem- need help!

Today I whip a U-turn (a rather sharp one) and in the process of doing so, something went "clunk".From there on out, every turn was VERY hard to do, it took a lot of muscle, and I think it is something other then the power steering fluid (because of the clunk)
Any ideas of what could be wrong? Please help!
