Starting/Shutting down Sign In

Having issues with my Mitsubishi Lancer 2005. Last couple of weeks I have had hard time starting it. It would start on like 2/3rd try though. I imagined either my battery was running on low or my starter is about to go.

However today my car would only not only struggle to start, but it if I left it on park for couple for minute or 2, it would shut off automatically. Also while its on it hums like its struggling and making noises like I'm accelerating (RPM is going up/down), all this while its on park and me not touching the pedal. The sound you hear is that when you slowly accelerate and let go of the pedal. I'm scared to drive it b/c I'm afraid it will shutdown in middle of road and I will need to pay for towing.

So am screwed in that its not only starter/battery but engine issues? Or is this another symptom starter/battery.

Re: Starting/Shutting down Sign In

Is this not cranking up to par? If battery is original it's time for it to go but check the charging system as well. If it takes a jump and behaves that's a good clue this is a charging or battery problem OR both. Starters won't like low volt/amp tries too long and alternators don't like fighting with a weak battery at all,
