Springs in 1967 chevy steering column

I'm replacing the turn signal switch in my 1967 Chevy Caprice and while turning the one piece of the steering column, a couple of springs popped off inside and are now laying in there. I'm not sure what the springs are for or how to go about fixing this. HELP!!!!!!

I believe you are talking about the detent springs. Heres a pic of them in place.
