I have a 99 chrysler sebring convertible jxi I been having steering problems its very hard to turn. I just paid 600 to replace the power steering pump pressure line and pulley and belt. That seems not to be the problem it did not fix anything I have a speed sensitive power steering system. The part that mechanics get confused on is the fact after driving the car for 15 minutes my power steering comes back no problems I can even turn the car off after driving 30 minutes after it loosens and turn it back on and it still is smooth but if it sits to long it will be hard to turn again please help im lost.
Serviced engine light is on

The "check engine" light is an indicator for a system that monitors many electronic functions in the system, also called the "malfunction indicator lamp" (MIL). It can come on for any of hundreds of different causes from any of the systems that the computer monitors. Some are very important and can lead to further component or engine damage and some are emissions related not as serious but still a problem and need to be repaired.

Your first step is to have the computer scanned to retrieve the trouble codes that were set when the check engine light came on. Those codes will give you specific information about what the computer saw and will get you pointed in the right direction to find your problem. With a 1996 or newer and some 95 cars and you have an AutoZone or Advanced auto parts in your area, they will read them for free. Once you have these code numbers, we can be a lot more specific about what your problem may be.

This may or may not be related to the steering issue but you need to find out before going any further.

As Hammer said check for codes to see if that can give any insight to whats going on.

You might what your shop take a look at it again. Maybe go on a ride with the tech while the problem is occuring so you are both on the same page....

From your brief description it reminds me of the "morning sickness" problem with GM racks. No p/s for the 1st couple of minutes in the morning & then it was good for the day.... That was a seal problem inside the rack & pinion...... Haven't seen the problem on Chryslers but anything is possible........
