Speed Bump Nightmare Sign In

Ok here's what happened:

I went over a speedbump in my apt complex with my 2003 Mercury Sable. i really don't think I was going very fast(The speedbump is about 30 feet from where I pulled out) , but maybe it was too fast for the speedbump. I heard my car bottom out and kept driving a little bit. Then I smelled something like burning rubber and saw smoke coming from underneath the front left side of my car. I promptly turned around and parked in front of my building again.

Any ideas?

I guess you got a leak somewhere. You need to get under the vehicle and see where it is coming from. We can not see it, you can. Good luck.

Re: Speed Bump Nightmare Sign In

yea your going to try to get under there and look.

ive never bottomed out that bad but one time after working on the car i forgot to securely fasten the plastic inner fender splash shields.

while driving they felll onto the spinning tire,......cause some smoke and a nasty smell.

theses shields are usually only held on with those one-way plastic push pins.....so check to see if you didnt cause that to rub the tire.
