I own a 05 Trailblazer, the engine light has come on and been on for about 4 months. Onstar diag. test said it is something with the emissions, i think i have narrowed it down to the smog pump( get exhaust smell inside while driving, the mpg has gone down to about 9 miles to the gallon, and it sputters while at idle ) im wondering how to tell for sure that it is the smog pump, and should i replace all the other stuff ( valves, canister, manifold, etc) at the same time due to extra wear to prevent a chain effect sort of thing? Thanks.

We would need the exact code number. Most of the codes are somehow emissions related and there are hundreds of different ones. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ We offer help in answering questions, clarifying things or giving advice but we are not a substitute for an on-site inspection by a professional.
