Shift indicator cable replacement Sign In

How do you replace the shift indicator cable on a 1985 Ford F-150 5.0 ltr Automatic trans. Cable runs from shifter to indicator in instrument panel

If the cable is broken, you need to replace the entire indicator. You havew to remove most of the instrument panel and the lower knee bolster under the steering column. There is an adjusting nut and bracket attached to the column. You have to remove the entire assembly. It is possible just the spring has come off behind the pointer.
