S10 Pickup stalling at idle

Posts: 1 My 92' Chevy S10 4x2 pickup 4.3L V6 auto trans has 185,000 miles and has been giving me the following problem. It started about a month ago and has gotten worse, at first when I would coast to a stop or be at a light it would stall on me as if someone turned the key off. I would put it in Park and it would start up right away and then sometimes do it again or not the rest of the day. The next few times it got worse and took longer to get it started but it would start and I could keep it going at a light if I kept on the throttle a little. Now if I warm up the truck from a cold start and just leave it there for about five minutes it stalls on me and I have to wait a long time for it to cool down before it can start up again. Any ideas on what it can be? Here is what I have done so far.
Tune up new plugs, wires, cap, rotor, pcv valve
Cleaned TBI
new fuel filter
new fuel pressure regulator/diaphragm
new sending unit
new fuel pump
new TPS (throttle position sender)
I also just disconnected the TCC on the transmission and it still did the same thing.
Again the truck runs fine when it starts up and also runs like a brand new truck on the highway at cruising speed. Only when I let off the gas and come to an idle does it stall on me.

i had a chevy lumina and it was doing that and i replaced the computer and it stoped

I would think the computer too, but there is couple of things need to be checked for instance when it start not wanting to crank is there any fire comming off of plug wires ? Do you smell fuel ? Do the check engine light come on when it starts to stall? If it does a trouble code has been stored in the computers memory.This would help alot

the ppick up in the distributer...that is mostly what happens. the connections in the pickup module are going bad, they get hot the engine loses spark and when the module cools it refires. happens all the time. i think for that engine it's about 80 dollars to get a pickup module.

OK so read closely and see what I just did to get it resolved, I think....
I figured let me start from the beginning. I wanted to monitor what was happening when it stalled so I did the following:
Took a test light and plugged it into the gray wire on the fuel pump relay
Turned the ignition key to the on position light goes on for two seconds then turns off, I can hear the fuel pump as well
Started the truck and left the test light on the gray wire, truck is running now and test light remains on
I wait about 4-5 minutes for it to stall while watching the TBI spray fuel and watching the test light
It stalls and both stop at the same time, at this point the truck won't start
I now make a jumper with a 10 amp fuse inline and hook it from the gray wire on the relay to 12+v on the battery
Now the test light is on and the fuel pump is pumping constantly
I now am able to start the truck without waiting for it to cool down
I now wait for the truck to stall 15 minutes go by and it hasn't stalled
While the truck is still running I disconnected the 12+v jumper from the gray wire on the relay
I now wait another 15 minutes and it doesn't stall (this part doesn't make sense because if I suspected the relay or the computer it should have stalled as it was doing prior to the jumper keeping the fuel pump pumping, right?)
I also notice now that there is a check engine light on, checked the code 44 O2 sensor running lean
I shutdown and start up again, check engine light is off and truck is running at idle for 20 minutes with no jumper.
So what happened to cause it to work now? Did I possibly reset the computer when I jumped the fuel pump somehow to get passed some conditions it might have been seeing to shutdown the fuel pump?
I changed the fuel pump relay with a new one to be sure and just drove it a few miles, doesn't stall anymore. The check engine light is coming on after a little while of driving around. Could the O2 sensor be causing the computer to go into some sort of safe mode that shuts the fuel pump down after it gets warm? I am not convinced that it is over and I have a feeling that it may come back after the O2 sensor some how gets the computer to think that something is wrong and it needs to shutdown the fuel.
Any thoughts on this?

I would wait for the next trouble code to appear and start the investigation from there it seems to be fuel related that much is clear and the relay good thinking
