Reverse sensor randomly stopped working

Hi everyone,
I've encountered this problem for about a week now. For no apparent reason, my 2006 Honda Civic hybrid started being faulty on reverse.
When I put my car on reverse, a beep usually comes on indicating that the reverse sensor is activated. But recently there's no indication.
I'd say 9/10 times my car's reverse sensor does not work and the yellow reverse parking light does not come on either, however, the car seems normal while reversing. I have an aftermarket reversing camera installed in the car and that does not work either.
In rare occasions, my car's reverse sensor would be back to normal. The yellow reverse parking light comes on, the sensor works and the reversing camera comes on.
I've also noted that the issue arises during engine start up. If the reverse sensor doesn't work after I start my car, it won't work when I'm parking at my destination too. Oddly enough, if the reverse sensor works after car start up, it works later when i'm parking no matter how long I drove for.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I think the swich that tells your car not to start in gear could be going out out and not sending power to your reverse lights, sensor, and to your backup camera. Or you could have a short in the wire leading from your swich to the lights and the rest of your items. One thing I would try is next time when you put you car in reverse right before it is in gear shake and rattle the shifter and if your stuff works you swich is proboly bad. What you could do though is take it to a mechanic and have him at least tell you what is wrong I hope I was some help have a good day.
