Resetting timing on the engine

Year of vehicle: 1996 (N-reg)
Make of vehicle: Daewoo
Model of vehicle: Nexia
Engine size: 1.4
Mileage/Kilometer: 60,000
The head gasket had blown. I read the manual and have got to the stage of replacing the new head gasket.
In the process of removing the old gasket, I had overlooked the timing procedure on the crank shaft and to the adjuster on the timing belt. Consequently I have lost placement/markings of the timing in the assembly.
Questions:
1- Can you kindly advise me on resetting the timing?
2- If the above is done incorrectly, what are the signs and symptoms to observe that would indicate this?
3- Can you also advise me on anything to bear in mind when reassembling i.e. hydraulic tappets and fuel system, (if the fuel injection system needs to be re-pressurised) or do I just continue as per normal in reverse order of assembly?

Your manual should have the timing marks in them. If you are having trouble finding the marks on the crank gear, you could always slip the cover & balancer on and line up the tdc mark. If you get it a tooth off it will be obvious it will either have no power or start hard & ping.
Once you get it assembled just turn the engine over by hand 2 complete revolutions before starting and if it spins freely it should be good to start.......
