I have a 1994 Toyota Pickup, 2WD, half ton, 4 Cylinder, 2.4L with 230,000 miles. I've done all the routine maintenance on it. When my truck was only 3 months old, with 3600 miles on it, the timing chain snapped, it was defective and the engine was completely rebuilt. I also had the head gasket replaced about 50,000 miles ago because it was leaking. Other than those two things, the engine had been flawless. My question: How hard would it be to replace the piston seals or rings myself? Is it even cost effective to do so, to take it somewhere and have them do it? Would it cost more than my truck is worth? All you have is a leaking valve cover gasket. The oil runs down on to the outside of the plugs.
