Recently bought used car Sign In

I bought a 2000 Chrysler Neon Friday afternoon. The dealer apparently e-tested, and certified it for me. Saturday a guy pulls up beside me and told me my break lights were out... took it to the mechanic who told me the break light switch needed to be replaced. Told him I just purchased he asked me who did the safety - seeing as break lights are quite a big deal. My quesiton is - When a car is certified/safety what's included? It's been 4 days now and a friend said that he thinks I need front end struts? What are my rights considering I just purchased the car from a used car dealer who charged me extra for certification/safety and emissions?

Saftey involves any equipment that makes your vehicle safe hint lights brakes ect your right is in most states you have the right to take the car back to the dealer and have them repair the problems and recheck that all saftey iteams are working properly the lemon law does not apply to used cars only new. Your certified used car should have come with a package showing you your rights and what that certification covers.

A bulb or switch could blow a minute after a test. Most safety items wouldn't wear out in a few days like that. Struts if only worn as far as ride is concerned and not unsafe would be a gray area. There is some responsibility of the shop that certified it I would think? Ask away. Things and laws would vary some by location. If the place gave is passing marks for safety and it would fail now what good is that system at all?
