 I just purchased a 1995 Ford Ranger but do not have an owner's manual. the interior light and seatbelt alert are not operating properly. They stay on all the time- now the battery in the truck is dead- I can jump start the car but am unable to disable the interior light and seatbelt sound. AAA was unable to locate the switch in the door panel- any idea how to permanently disable the interior light and seatbelt, door ajar alarm? thanks in advance holley

Interior light is easy. Just remove the bulb.
The other 2 I will investigate for you

Sorry to jump in: A thought on this..... Ford made a bunch of screwey ignition switches and problems right at the key cylinder. This vehicle seems to think the key is still in the ign and near the "run" postion. Try wiggling the key or perhaps turn slowly CC towards just the accessorie postion and it may quit that but the key may not come out there. I would blame just the switch the senses the door open but that alone shouldn't make a seat belt light come on?? If any of that changes things it will help target the final fix,

Get some spray lubricant and spray the latches real thoroughly. The door switch is located inside the door on the latch assembly. After spraying liberally, open and close tha doors a few times and the light should go out. If it doesn't, you may need a gem module.
Being way2old is why I need help from younger minds

I think this may be an issue as well- i will check out this possilbe solution tomorrow as well as way2old's idea- thanks so much and I will let you know in the morning. I am so glad I found this forum- :)

Good work lads! Was going to suggest the spray oil, but looked too deep into problem. Will wait and see what happens.

I can't believe it; but that was the issue. I used lubricant in the door latch and I no longer have the light or the constant sound of the door alarm! thanks so much (i went back to the original owner and he gave me the owner's manual!)

Thanks for the fixed reply. Keep a can handy or spring for a new switch. It isn't very expensive. Kinda tioght uarters to change tho.
