Hi,

I have a 99 Suzuki Esteem and it won't start.

It has been working fine until recently. Yesterday when I parked it outside a shopping center it was all fine (no lights left on). Upon my return after a few mins it wouldn't start or make any sort of noise. None of the electrical equipments were working. I got a jump start and lights came right on. I started driving it but it automatically turned off half a mile down the road.

The towing truck person told me it might be alternator/starter or battery. Please note that it starts up after a jump start but it dies and does not make any kind of noises.

PLEASE HELP ME! so I dont get ripped off at the local auto mechanic shop.

If you feel you are going to get ripped off at the local mechanic shop, why do you come to a website that is full of mechanocs? That puts us in a catch 22 situation. If we help, are you going to believe us? You need to have the battery and charging system checked to be sure they are operating properly. If the vehicle starts with a jump, I would start with the battery and then check to see if the system is charging. But, I too am a mechanic in a local repair shop.

^^What he said^^ Battery for sure. Once you get that, do a charge test on your ALT when car is running.
