I have been reading all of your posts, and was not aware of this. I had to have both the cam shaft sensor, and the oxygen sensor replaced over the last couple of months. They ran a test on my car both times and it showed the cam shaft sensor as out the first time, then the oxygen sensor out the second time. It runs fine now, but last week it scared the crap out of me for it started making an awful arcing sound under the hood, then smoke came pouring out of the front of the car. I took it in immediately, and they could not find the problem. It has not done it since, and I drive quite a ways to work. It seems okay now. But, I am more worried now for it sounds like what all of you are experiencing, and that the engine may need replacing, if it is indeed a flaw in design. This is upsetting. My car is past the warrantee at this stage, and I was thinking of getting a new car anyhow. I just don't have the financial stability to afford to make a change now.

There is nothing in the car that tells you a cam sensor is bad or an Oxygen sensor is bad. The codes give you specific information about the circuit. It's up to the technician to correctly diagnose what in the circuit is causing the code.
